Principal's Message
I congratulate all members of the cast, band and crew of Legally Blonde.
Many of the Technical elements were a first for Tasmania. As an example the opening scene involved students playing music and singing live, in synch with six huge scale, pre-recorded videos of the individual characters and the use of the state-of-the-art 4m x 3m LED screen, affectionately known as ‘Larry’, on-stage. The energy of the genre was captured by the cast and the hard-working student band mastered a new selection of songs in a range of genres.
For Don College, Legally Blonde has been a true team effort. In addition to the actual performance we have had staff and students caring for the animals, constructing and painting sets, assisting the technical team, preparing reviews, writing Programmes, sewing costumes, building caravans, perfecting makeup and hairstyles, providing meals to sustain performers, choreography and more. This production has been a true cross-curricular adventure, providing a focus and engaging many students, not just the performers.
On behalf of our team of Directors, Dayna, Darren, Danielle and Alex I would like to thank all staff, students and volunteers who have been involved. We have showcased the talents and fine personal qualities of our local youth. And don’t forget, “Being true to yourself never goes out of style.”
